Commonweal – Performing Arts. Academic Excellence
Commonweal are proud to support the Wiltshire Dance Festival and look forward to welcome dancers and their teachers and families once again in February.
At Commonweal we support the arts whole heartedly and value the difference it can make to young people. We offer up to 15 places every year to year 6 students who wish to come to Commonweal in year 7 who live outside catchment and show aptitude in dance, drama or music.
Commonweal alumni students have gone on to great things in the West End, professional touring shows and Cruise entertainment jobs and we can’t wait to watch you on your journey!
The dance area of the stage is 9m wide x 5.5m deep.
Dancers will be called back stage one dance before they are due to perform.
Dancers will enter the stage via stage right, we cannot allow them to run behind the curtain to enter from the other side, please practise this with them so that they are prepared.
One person will be allowed to accompany a dancer backstage to assist with props, this should be a teacher or parent (18 years & over), or a dancer that is in the same section.
Please ensure all props are removed from back stage straight after they have been used.
They will exit the stage to the right as well, and will return to the holding area until they return for adjudication.
Only dancers in a section will be allowed in the holding area, dancers will be signed in and out of this area.
Please note: No other children are permitted to wait in the holding area.
ONE TEACHER OR PARENT ONLY BACK STAGE WITH DANCERS.
